While politicians debated...
I finished the socks I've been knitting! How flippin cool am I? Okay, so the yarn was self-striping, I don't get that credit. But everything else was all me. I followed the pattern on this website, which also has a handy dandy photo tutorial as well. So like when I wasn't getting how to do the heel part, I could refer to the pictures. I am slightly irked - I goofed on the last two stitches, so the seam is a little knobby at the very end. But all in all, really great for a first timer who had almost no help (I say almost, as the preschool director who also runs a morning knitting group helped me figure out how to use the double pointed needles. To which I'm eternally grateful!) Here they are, laid out on my laptop, and then on my teeny little feet! I have to say, they're very warm and cushy.

Meet Ollie

This is Ollie, a little crocheted creature of mine. I think he's adorable personally! I got the idea from one pattern, then improvised a bit on my own. I do believe I shall make some more of these little creatures, just b/c they're fun! The color striping was a total fluke - it's just how the yarn crocheted up!
And for a little crocheted creature, Ollie's got great taste in music! I snapped a picture of him checking out some of my CD's...

I have yarned named after me!
I think this officially makes me a crafting geek - but isn't it pretty???
I have yarn from her that I made Maura's hat and mittens out of this year - if you're into hand-dyed yarn, buy from her...and the other people who sell yarn at Inspired - I've bought from them all and have been very happy with each purchase!
Here's Maura's hat and mittens...which I knitted myself...yes, I've mentioned it before, but it can't hurt to mention it again...

My project for the week
A cloth diapering friend of mine is pregnant with a girl, so on a spur of the moment decision (meaning I finally finished all my other projects that needed to get done), I whipped up this crocheted soaker (a soaker is a cloth diaper cover, for those of you not in the know.)
It turned out really cute, though I realized when I was nearly done with it that I had goofed on one stitch. It's not noticable, it doesn't affect it's usage, but it will probably haunt me for all time. I'm a perfectionist like that. I did contemplate ripping the whole thing out and starting it over, but was afraid to since yarn had been cut.
The pattern is from Elysium and the yarn is from Uberknits

My first real intricate knitting project
Okay, maybe not that intricate - but for me it has been. I'm knitting Maura a hat and matching gloves. It's turning out really well - I only have to seam them up and stick them on her and I'm done.
And just in time - it was snowing today a little.
The yarn is called "Tainted Tangerine" - dyed by Uberknits, which can be found at Diva Designs. craftiness
